WADARC Welsh DF Hunts.
The beginnings...
It was a few years back when WADARC club member Phil G0JSB suggested that we hold a DF Hunt in another part of the country rather than in our own back yards. Phil suggested we stage some events in and around the Clocaenog Forest. This is an area of outstanding natural beauty, yet is only 40 minutes drive from where most WADARC members live.
The first event was staged over a weekend in September 1996 and was a great success. We were blessed with absolutely perfect DFing weather, warm and sunny with clear blue skies and just a gentle breeze.
The 1996 event was so popular with all who took part that another was planned for 1997. Again the weather was kind and two more days of fun filled DFing occurred. You can see some pictures of what happened here.
Last year...
We didn't hold a challenge in 1998. 1999 would be different. In the past events, teams taking part had come from the two local Wirral radio clubs. In 1999 we invited teams from our neighboring radio clubs. Once more we had a great time but boy did we pick the wrong weekend! Approximately 45mm rain fell that weekend in September! You can see the original web invite here and the 1999 picture gallery here.
